Thanks to a $2,000. Walmart Community Grant recently awarded to Love, Inc. by the Burlington Walmart Supercenter, the annual “Shop with a Cop” Program will be funded for 2019.
Each December a number of area children from disadvantaged families gather at our local Walmart and are partnered with volunteer members of area Police, Fire and Rescue Departments to pick out Christmas gifts for their family members. A visit with Santa, refreshments and helpful elves wrapping the presents complete this heartwarming experience.
The “Shop with a Cop” event is only possible through the generosity and volunteer participation from the community. It gives local law and emergency personnel the chance to enjoy the spirit of giving along with positive relationship building with the program participants.
